3. Sugar Free Candy
Ingredients List:
- One cup of sugar-free fruit juice, like orange, raspberry, or cranberry
- Two tablespoons of gelatin without flavor
- One or two tsp powdered erythritol, or an other sugar alternative (to taste)
- Half a teaspoon of citric acid (optional; adds sourness)
- Natural extracts (orange zest, lemon zest, etc.) or flavor extracts (mint, vanilla, etc.) are optional.
- Optional: Dust with a sugar-free coating (such as powdered erythritol).
Step By Step Guidelines:
Prepare the Molds: Use cooking spray to coat a pan or silicone candy molds.
Mix Gelatin: Combine a few teaspoons of cold water with the gelatin in a small bowl. Let it bloom for a few minutes, or until it thickens.
Heat the Juice: Place the sugar-free fruit juice in a pot and heat it over medium heat. Make sure to simmer it gently; do not boil it.
Mix Gelatin Mixture: Add the bloomed gelatin to the pot after the juice has warmed up. Until the gelatin has fully dissolved, stir constantly.
Sweeten: the mixture by adding powdered erythritol or another sugar alternative. Mix thoroughly until fully incorporated. If necessary, taste and adjust the sweetness.
Optional Additions: You can add flavor extracts for added flavor or citric acid for a sour taste. Mix thoroughly.
Pour into Molds: Gently pour the mixture into the molds that have been ready. You can later cut the set gelatin into little cubes if you're using a pan.
Chill: After the candies have set for at least two to three hours, or until hard, place the pan or filled molds in the refrigerator.
Extract from Molds: After the sugar-free gummy candy has solidified, take it out of the molds. Lightly dust them with powdered sugar, if needed.
Store: Keep the sugar-free candies refrigerated in an airtight container. They ought to continue for roughly a week.
Try experimenting with different flavors, shapes, and sugar replacements to make a range of sugar-free candies to suit your own tastes.
