Chicken Parmigiana Classic Italian-American Dish Recipe

Ingredients list:

Regarding the Chicken:

  • Four skinless and boneless chicken breasts
  • To taste, add salt and black pepper.
  • Dredge with 1 cup of all-purpose flour.
  • Two big eggs
  • two tsp water
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs in the Italian style
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, one cup
  • For frying, use olive oil

Regarding the Sauce:

  • Two cups of homemade or store-bought marinara sauce
  • One tsp of dehydrated oregano
  • One tsp of dried basil
  • half a teaspoon of powdered garlic
  • To taste, add salt and black pepper.

For Dragging:

  • One cup of finely shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Use parsley or fresh basil as a garnish.

Step By Step Guidelines:

1.  Warm up the oven:

  • Set oven temperature to 400°F, or 200°C.

2.  Get the chicken ready:

  • Using a meat mallet or rolling pin, pound each chicken breast between sheets of plastic wrap until it reaches an even thickness of approximately 1/2 inch.
  • Every chicken breast should be seasoned on both sides with salt and black pepper.

3.  Establish a Dredge Station:

  • Dredge stations should be set up in three different shallow dishes. In the first dish, place the flour; in the second, whisk the eggs with the water; and in the third, combine the breadcrumbs and the grated Parmesan cheese.

4.  Apply Coat to Chicken:

  • First, coat each chicken breast with flour, then dip it into the beaten egg mixture. Lastly, coat the chicken with a combination of breadcrumbs and Parmesan, pressing the breadcrumbs firmly to stick to the chicken.

5.  Cook the chicken in a pan:

  • Heat the olive oil in a big skillet over medium-high heat. When golden brown, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side. Since the chicken will complete cooking in the oven, it doesn't need to be cooked through at this point.

6.  Get the sauce ready:

  • The marinara sauce should be heated over medium heat in a small saucepan. Add the garlic powder, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. For a few minutes, simmer.

7.  Put Together and Bake:

  • Transfer the chicken breasts that have partially cooked to a baking dish.
  • Take a spoonful and drizzle some marinara sauce across each chicken breast.
  • Top with grated Parmesan cheese and shredded mozzarella.

8.  Cook:

  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling, and the chicken is thoroughly cooked.

9.  Serve:

  • Add some parsley or basil for a garnish.
  • Serve the Chicken Parmesan with your preferred side dish or over boiled noodles.
